ALL tracks led to Johnstone as model railway fanatics enjoyed the chance to check out a special show.

The Renfrewshire Model Railway Club saw a record number of people file through the doors on Saturday and Sunday as its annual exhibition attracted well over 700 enthusiasts.

With 18 intricate layouts to explore, plenty of traders selling collectibles and interactive activities for kids, such as Lego and Scalextric, there was something for everyone at Johnstone Town Hall.

Kenny Bell, club chairman, said he was amazed by the number of families who went along – and he thinks railway modelling is becoming more popular by the day.

He said: “The event was a great success this year. We think we had around 750 visitors across the two days, which is certainly more than we’ve ever had before.

“I was really surprised by the amount of families that showed up, which just proves how popular the hobby is for people of all ages.

“There was plenty for the kids to do, with the Lego and the Scalextric, and they seemed to like that. It was good to have that section.

“We are hoping to hold the event again next year and we’re about to start organising it.

“Our thanks go to all the clubs who came along and to everyone who came through the door. It was wonderful to see so many there.”
