A JOHNSTONE man is facing trial for allegedly attacking two paramedics.

Andrew John Sloway, 35, of Canal Street, is said to have lashed out at the emergency workers earlier this month.

Prosecutors claim he assaulted them in the town’s Elm Drive on November 3.

The first charge states he butted paramedic technician Paul McIntosh on the head as he responded to an emergency.

Sloway is also said to have assaulted paramedic technician Martin Robertson by pushing him while he was also responding to a 999 call.

And he faces a third charge of behaving in a threatening or abusive way by shouting, swearing and threatening violence on the same occasion.

Sloway is further accused of being in possession of cocaine, which is a class-A drug, the following day at Greenock police station.

When he appeared in the dock at Paisley Sheriff Court, he pleaded not guilty to all four charges and Sheriff Lindsey Kooner adjourned the case.

A trial date has been set for February, with a pre-trial hearing scheduled for January.
