She said: “Thank you to everyone who has donated to our Christmas fundraising appeal, including the Green Brigade who handed in a wonderful £500 for our funds.

“We really appreciate all of your help. People often have not eaten for a couple of days when they come to us.

“Your donations enable us to help relieve the hunger and guide people to help to get back on their feet.”

During 2017/18, Renfrewshire Foodbank provided emergency food for 8,600 people – of which approximately 2,400 were children.

It is appealing for cash and food donations as Christmas approaches.
