ART lovers turned out in their droves for a special exhibition and Christmas fair in a Renfrewshire village at the weekend.

Run by the Bishopton Art Group and held at the village’s community centre, the festive fun gave talented artists a chance to showcase their finest work.

As well as a wide selection of paintings, the event featured a host of Christmas stalls for those looking for a festive bargain.

On the day, nearly 150 votes were cast as Jean Kerr was chosen as the winner of the exhibition for her touching portrait, titled ‘Alfie.’

Ronnie Dukes, of Bishopton Art Group, was delighted to see so many people going along to the event.

He told The Gazette: “We really appreciate the fact that people came along to support us.

“It was a really good, sociable day and we were so busy that we had to put tables on the stage.

“We were just mobbed.”

Bishopton Art Group will be running another exhibition at The Bridge community hub, in Bridge of Weir, from Tuesday, November 24, until Friday, January 4.

People who are on the lookout for something special as a Christmas gift are advised to head along to check out the works of art that will be on sale.
