A JOHNSTONE mum is facing jail for giving drugs to her 11-year-old daughter and other young girls.

The woman, 29, gave cannabis to her girl and four others, aged 12 or 13, numerous times in December last year.

She admitted her guilt during a hearing at Paisley Sheriff Court, pleading guilty to a charge of culpable and reckless conduct.

The charge outlined that she supplied her daughter, three 12-year-old girls and a girl of 13 “with hand-made rolled cigarettes that you stated contained cannabis, which was or could be injurious to the health of said children and to the danger of their lives.”

Defence solicitor Michael McKeown asked Sheriff David Pender to deal with the case without calling for background reports.

He said: “I thought it was a matter that could be dealt with today.”

But, after hearing that the woman is facing trial later this year accused of behaving in a threatening or abusive way and breaking bail conditions, Sheriff Pender adjourned the case without hearing a narrative of the facts.
