IT was party time in Johnstone at the weekend as thousands of people gathered for the town’s Christmas lights switch-on.
Revellers of all ages descended on the town centre to mark the start of the festive season.
On the main stage in Houstoun Square, DJs from Pulse FM hosted the entertainment, with young up-and-coming talent performing for the crowd.

Youngsters in attendance were spoilt for choice, with the chance to visit Santa’s Grotto, as well as taking part in free festive face painting.
A Christmas market was run by St Vincent’s Hospice, with a selection of goodies available for bargain hunters.
Then, at 5pm, Renfrewshire Provost Lorraine Cameron was joined on stage by nine-year-old competition winner Jonathan, from St Anthony’s Primary, to push the button that lit up Johnstone.
