THE Christmas jumpers were on and there were smiles everywhere as Kilbarchan Parish Church got into the festive spirit in style.

The church held its annual Christmas fair at the weekend, with dozens of villagers packing out the place as they gathered to welcome the most wonderful time of the year.

A spokeswoman for the church said: “This was a very successful event and we are always delighted to see so many people turn out.

“There were plenty of stalls for people to browse, including crafts and home baking, and we raised a great amount for the church.

“Santa came along to greet the children, which they loved.

“There was something for all ages and we’re very pleased with how everything went.”

Stalls included tins and bottles, toiletries, quality gifts, Christmas food and plenty of tasty baked goods.

There was a chance to meet Santa and guests could have a go at winning a prize by guessing the weight of the Christmas cake.

The event grabbed the attention of community leaders, such as local councillors Derek Bibby and Audrey and Andy Doig, who enjoyed mingling with the locals while tucking into some mince pies.
