GENEROUS pupils have donated almost 700kg worth of food and toiletries to families who need them the most this Christmas.
Pupils at St Columba’s Junior School in Kilmacolm participated in a ‘Reverse Advent Calendar’ where, instead of children receiving gifts each day, they brought in something for Renfrewshire Foodbank.
A total of 680kg worth of food and toiletries was donated.

And children went along to the foodbank to deliver the food personally while getting a tour of the place and learning how the cause works.
Alison Duncan, head of the junior school, said: “As we continue to develop our children’s growing sense of compassion and social responsibility we strengthen our engagement with local charities.
“It is a pleasure to see the children and their families coming on board so readily with the ideas that we all have for developing such a depth of social awareness.

“My hope is that our children will grow with a keen understanding of the world around them and a desire to participate in society for its benefit and good.”
Renfrewshire Foodbank is always looking for donations at its busiest time of the year.
