DETECTIVES have appealed for information after a trailer containing booze worth at least £100,000 was stolen from a Renfrewshire farm yesterday.

A large number of bottles of whisky and gin were stored in the Southbar Transport trailer when it was pinched from Nether Southbar Farm, in Greenock Road, Inchinnan, at around 1.30am.

This latest theft took place just a week after crooks broke into the Malcolm Logistics haulage yard in Burnbrae Road, Linwood, and stole two trucks containing a six-figure sum of alcohol in Renfrewshire.

On that occasion, one of the trucks was driven behind a small black car to Riverpark Industrial Estate, in Bridge Street, Linwood, before the trailer was disconnected, fitted to another cab and driven away.

Police later recovered one of the trucks in East Kilbride.

Detective Inspector Ross MacDonald, of Paisley Police Office, said enquiries into this latest high-value theft are at an early stage.

He added: "Initial enquiries have revealed that two white trucks were seen in the area around the time of the theft and we are currently carrying out enquiries to establish if they were involved in this incident.

“At this time, I would urge anyone who was in the area early on Sunday morning who either witnessed anything suspicious or who has any information that may assist our investigation to contact Paisley Police Office through 101, quoting reference number 1553 of December 16.
