HARD-WORKING staff at Royal Mail’s sorting office in Johnstone have been praised for their first-class service over the festive season.

Renfrewshire South MSP Tom Arthur popped into the Walkinshaw Street base to deliver some season’s greetings and thank them for their efforts.

Mr Arthur saw at first-hand how much work goes into coping with the Christmas rush.

He was shown around by office manager James Donnelly and was introduced to the postmen and women who are pulling out all the stops to sort and deliver mail across the Johnstone area at their busiest time of the year.

Mr Arthur said: “At no other time is the dedication of postmen and women clearer than during the festive period.

“There is a huge amount of effort and dedication that goes into delivering a first-class Christmas all over the country.

“It was great to meet the team here at Johnstone and thank them for the extraordinary lengths they go to ensure Christmas parcels and cards are delivered to loved ones on time, as well as thanking them for delivering our mail services all through the year, in all weathers.”
