CHILDREN and staff at a Kilbarchan nursery have proved their ‘green’ credentials by earning a fourth Eco-Schools flag.
Kilbarchan Community Nursery, in Meadside Avenue, was awarded the mark of environmental awareness for the tremendous amount of work it has put into transforming its grounds.
Praise was also given for events which saw parents and children getting involved in eco-friendly activities.

A spokesperson for Eco-Schools Scotland, which runs the Green Flag programme, said:
“Photographs clearly showed how much the children enjoyed cultivating and harvesting their own vegetables.
“Measuring rainfall is a great way to understand the water cycle and we have a lot of rain in Scotland, so it is good to see that the nursery is capturing some of it in water butts and using it to water plants in the garden.”

The nursery was also commended for its use of food waste bins and creative junk models made from leftover rubbish.
