TALENTED youngsters from Erskine, including some as young as three, entertained crowds as they went about their Christmas shopping in the centre of Glasgow a decade ago.

Members of the Young Stars Stage School jumped at the chance when they were asked to perform on the big stage in George Square for the Winterfest event.

Dance teacher Kerry Whitty said at the time: “Our students are very excited to have been asked to perform on the big stage. This is a huge opportunity for them to show off their talent and take part in the festivities only five days before Christmas.

“We have been running in Erskine for eight years now and we have performed many local shows but this will be the most festive show we have performed, under the huge Christmas lights and by the ice rink.

“We will be showing the story of what Santa’s elves get up to when it’s not Christmas time and, before they know it, Christmas is upon them and they have to rush to get everything organised.

“We recently performed our annual show ‘A Star Is Born,’ which was a huge success, and all students aged three to 18 were able to show how good they really are.”

The 24-year-old mum-of-one added: “We aim to provide for each student’s needs – boosting confidence, developing social skills and teaching all aspects of performance.”
