A CHARITY has made a £2,000 donation to Renfrewshire Foodbank as the service continues to help people in crisis.

The generous donation from Providing for People in Paisley will go towards the running costs of the foodbank’s van.

Elizabeth Alexander, foodbank manager, said: “Thank you so much to Providing for People in Paisley for donating £2,000 to Renfrewshire Foodbank.

“Our van enables us to pick up large donations and take parcels of food to local churches to give to people in crisis in our community.

“We could not manage without it.”

During 2017/18, the foodbank provided emergency food for 8,600 people, of which approximately 2,400 were children.

Susan Lang, a committee member with Providing for People in Paisley, said: “We have contributed to Renfrewshire Foodbank in recent years.

“This year we have made a cash grant to assist with the running costs of the foodbank, enabling them to distribute much-needed items.”

Cheques should be made payable to Renfrewshire Foodbank.
