COMMUTERS and residents are being reminded to be prepared for a month of disruption as the Johnstone train station car park is closed for resurfacing work.

Work began at the site on Saturday, January 5, for the car park to get a makeover – and it will not open again to the public until Monday, February 4.

This means commuters who use the station are having to park in the surrounding residential areas or in the town’s high street.

Bishopton, Howwood, and Lochwinnoch stations are being suggested as altenatives.

January is proving to be a tough month for commuters in the area, after Scotrail confirmed passengers travelling between Glasgow Central and Paisley Gilmour Street will have to use a bus for that leg of the journey on Saturdays and Sundays.

This is to allow essential work, such as improvements on a footbridge at Arkleston, Paisley, and the installation of rock netting to protect the railway from falling debris at Bishopton.
