POLICE have confirmed the person hit by a train in Renfrewshire yesterday has died.
The incident occurred yesterday just before 6.50pm when the person was struck by a train at Lochwinnoch train station.
Police rushed to the station soon after but emergency services sadly pronounced the person dead at the scene.
They are currently working to get in touch with the person's family.
A spokesperson for British Transport Police said: "Officers were called to Lochwinnoch Railway station, at 6.50pm yesterday after reports of a person being struck by a train.
"Colleagues from the ambulance service also attended and a person was sadly pronounced dead at the scene.
"Officers are working to identify the person and inform their family."
