FUNDRAISERS from across Renfrewshire have helped to coin in a massive £29,000 for the Cystic Fibrosis Trust in honour of a four-year-old who has the condition.

Mila Marr, from Erskine, was diagnosed with the genetic condition when she was just three weeks old.

The faulty gene slowly destroys the lungs and digestive system and is carried by more than two million people in the UK, half of whom will not live to celebrate their 40th birthday.

Events such as a charity ball, coffee mornings and Christmas parties have all helped to raise the £29,000, which will go towards more research into the condition.

Mila’s mum Vicky said: “Lots of local people have helped raise this money. It’s been absolutely amazing.

“Over the past five years, we’ve raised around £100,000 for the charity, which is incredible.”

The fundraising group of family and friends have named themselves #TeamMila. For more information, visit www.teammila.co.uk.
