A RENFREW man is facing trial over claims he withheld information from the police while he was suspected of a driving offence.

It is alleged that on October 29, 2018, Kevin Burns failed to disclose to PC Stuart Hamilton who had been driving a vehicle on the A737 at around 8.30am on September 29 last year.

Court papers state 35-year-old Burns withheld the information, in breach of the Road Traffic Act 1988, while the officer was investigating an alleged dangerous driving offence.

Burns, of Kenley Road, was not present when the case against him called for the first time at Paisley Sheriff Court but a not guilty plea was entered on his behalf.

A trial has now been scheduled for April, with a pre-trial hearing set for March, and he is ordained to appear in court on both occasions.
