MOTORISTS are being warned to expect disruption this month as one of Renfrewshire's busiest roads undergoes "extensive" resurfacing work.

Overnight closures will be in place between junctions 30 and 29 on the M8 motorway from Saturday, February 9, to Friday, February 15.

Traffic management on the stretch of road, from near Bishopton to the St James Interchange, will be installed after 8pm each night and lifted at 6am each morning in order to resurface 2km of the eastbound hard shoulder.

In addition, there will be a contraflow system in place on the westbound M8, between the Black Cart and River Gryfe, from 8pm on February 15 to 6am on Monday, February 18, in order to resurface 800m of carriageway.

And a contraflow will also be in operation on the westbound M8, from River Gryfe to Craigmure, between 8pm on Friday, February 22, and 6am on Monday, February 25, so that 1.1km of carriageway can be resurfaced.

Alan Murray, of Scotland TranServ, said motorists should expect "significant delays."

He added: "Drivers are asked to seek alternative travel arrangements at these times.

"Every effort has been taken to minimise disruption while this important resurfacing work is completed.”
