A TRIO of inventive foodies from Johnstone High School could see their sandwich creation appear in 100 Subway stores across Scotland after making it to the final of a competition.

Abbie Stevenson, Natasha Alexander and Jessica MacMillan have made it to the final six of the sandwich store’s Design a Sub contest.

Their idea of ‘The Brazil Thrill’, designed to be healthy and nutritious, caught the eye of judges, and they will now face a nerve-wracking Dragon’s Den-style pitch to a panel of experts next month.

Cindy Moffat, teacher at Johnstone High, said: “We are so proud our students have been shortlisted as finalists in the challenge.

“The team have worked really hard to create their Sub and it has been a great opportunity for them to put their business skills to the test.

“The whole school is looking forward to the final and everyone is rooting for them to win.”

This year’s competition received just fewer than 80 entries, and finalists will compete for the chance to see their Sub launched in stores across the region, while bagging themselves £100 of Amazon vouchers.

The Johnstone High pupils will be competing against other budding entrepreneurs from Dunoon Grammar School, Hutchesons’ Grammar School in Glasgow, Stirling High School and Dunblane High School.
