A RENFREW woman has denied verbally and physically abusing a dementia sufferer who was a resident in the care home where she worked.
Ruth Monaghan, of Haining Road, is accused of assaulting the woman, who has since passed away, to her injury.
Prosecutors claim 49-year-old Monaghan lashed out at Janet McCaffrey, 66, at Hillside View Care Home, in Nethercraigs Road, Paisley, on April 23 last year.
Court papers claim she grabbed the pensioner by the arm and pulled her, leaving her injured.
Monaghan is also accused of behaving in a threatening or abusive way towards her by repeatedly swearing at her, saying threatening and abusive remarks to her and grabbing a glass of water from her grasp.
The case against Monaghan called for the first time at Paisley Sheriff Court in December and was continued until last week for a further pre-trial hearing to take place.
At last week’s hearing, Monaghan pleaded not guilty to the two charges against her.
A trial is scheduled for March and a further pre-trial hearing is also due to take place next month.
