A CHARITY dedicated to the rescue of greyhounds has received a boost after a committed fundraiser coined in more than £1,000.

Lesley Roberts raised the cash for RoyalHeart Greyhound Rescue by completing a Santa Dash.

The charity handed a cup to Lesley for being the biggest fundraiser for the ninth year in a row.

She received the trophy from Renfrewshire North and West MSP Derek Mackay, veteran and fellow fundraiser Tommy Armstrong and Abby Wood, of RoyalHeart.

Lesley said: “I like to raise money for various organisations I believe in.

“The organisations I have donated to over the years have been family charities, groups for disabled children and animal rescues.

“I have also supported Clydeside Action for Asbestos, as my dad died of mesothelioma.

“I could not, however, do this without the support of the Renfrewshire communities who sponsor me every year.”

RoyalHeart was formed by Rachel Anderson and Eddie Cassie in 2009 with the aim of rescuing one of the most abused breeds of dog.

All the homeless hounds are cared for by the pair at their home and the charity is supported by Kilbarchan Vet Practice.
