A RENFREW man is to stand trial charged with killing another man at a post office.

Edward Brown, 50, and 63-year-old co-accused Alan Brown, of Craigton, Glasgow, are both alleged to have attacked John McGuire in March last year.

The incident is said to have taken place at Cardonald Post Office, in Paisley Road West, Glasgow.

Prosecutors claim the pair were acting together when they held 56-year-old Mr McGuire on the ground and stamped on his body.

It is alleged they also pressed his neck and knelt on his back, restricting his breathing.

Both men submitted a plea of not guilty to a culpable homicide charge during a short hearing at the High Court in Glasgow today.

Lord Arthurson fixed a trial date for September this year.

Bail for both men was continued meantime.
