RENFREWSHIRE families are facing an almost five per cent increase in council tax for the year 2019/20.
Councillors will debate a proposed 4.79 per cent rise for the coming financial year, which is expected to be put forward by the SNP administration in its budget tomorrow (Thursday).

A source confirmed 1.79 per cent of that figure would be ring-fenced to fund investment in local authority schools and roads.
Elected members are required to determine the level of council tax for bands A to H inclusive at the full council meeting.

Last year councillors voted to approve a three per cent council tax increase in a budget which council leader Iain Nicolson said cared “for the most vulnerable” in Renfrewshire’s communities.
