FRIENDS and family of a Johnstone man who died after suffering an epileptic fit were set to raise cash in his honour a decade ago.

Colin McInally passed away suddenly the previous November, just a day after celebrating his 24th birthday.

Grieving pal Scott Blair, who used to work with the Celtic fan, thought it would be a good idea to remember his friend and help other sufferers of epilepsy.

He set about organising a charity bash at a Glasgow venue which could hold 450 people.

Colin’s mum Michaela, 42, said at the time: “The family are more than pleased Colin’s friends have decided to put together this fundraising event in his honour.

“It is great to know my son had so many good friends and especially Scott Blair and Scott Jones, who have put themselves out to do this.

“It is a great comfort for me as Colin’s friends still keep in touch and even come round to visit.”

Childhood friend Scott Jones, from Johnstone Castle, said: “We all really miss Colin and were shocked when he died.

“I have phoned round lots of people who knew Colin and everyone is very enthusiastic about the fundraising night.”

The big evening was set to kick off at the Corinthian, in Ingram Street, in the centre of Glasgow on April 2 that year.

A letter sent by the Epilepsy Scotland charity in support of the event stated: “We are fully behind Scott in his fundraising endeavours and would be delighted if you could support him in any way you can.

“All the money raised will go towards helping the 40,000 Scots with epilepsy.”

On the night, guests were able to pay a donation at the door.
