A PENSIONER has appeared in court accused of repeatedly raping his daughter and sexually assaulting his granddaughter.

The 69-year-old, who can't be named for legal reasons, is said to have started abusing his daughter when she was five and his granddaughter when she was just two.

His daughter is said to have first been abused in 1983 and regularly raped until 1996.

Prosecutors claim that, between 1983 and 1990, he repeatedly raped her and forced her to watch porn at a property in Inchinnan.

Between 1990 and 1996, he is said to have raped her repeatedly and abused her on a number of occasions at a property in Paisley and the Robertson car park on the Gleniffer Braes.

It is also alleged that, between 1987 and 1991, he repeatedly abused another girl at properties in Paisley and Inchinnan when she was aged between 13 and 15.

A further charge states that, in 1987 and 1988, he sexually assaulted another young girl in Inchinnan.

And he faces a further two charges in relation to his granddaughter, who was allegedly abused between 1994 and 2006.

Prosecutors claim he abused her at addresses in Paisley, in cars and a caravan elsewhere in the town and at an address in Ayrshire.

The man made no plea to the six charges against him when he appeared in the dock at Paisley Sheriff Court last week for a private hearing.

The case against him was continued for prosecutors to investigate further and Sheriff Lindsey Kooner released him on bail, with special conditions in place.

These conditions ban him from approaching or contacting his alleged victims or from having unsupervised contact with anyone under the age of 16, unless he is accompanied by an adult over the age of 21.

No future court dates have been set but the man is expected to go on trial before a jury later this year.
