A LINWOOD yob was found in contempt of court for making a rude gesture to a policeman as he sat in the dock.
Francis Logan, 50, was appearing at Paisley Sheriff Court when he turned round in the dock to speak to loved ones sitting in the public gallery.
The policeman told Logan to be quiet and face the front but he responded by flashing his middle finger at him.
When the gesture was spotted by Sheriff Frances McCartney, she sent Logan to the cells.
He returned to the dock a short time later, with defence solicitor Gemma Elder issuing an apology on his behalf.
Sheriff McCartney told Logan, of Ardgour Drive, Linwood, she was going to make a formal finding that he was in contempt of court but would make no further order.
This means the offence goes on Logan’s criminal record and, although he receives no direct punishment, it could count against him in the future.
