POLICE are appealing for information after a car was stolen from a quiet Renfrewshire street on Sunday.

Officers investigating the crime say a crook broke into a property in Balgonie Woods, Paisley, at some time from 10pm on Sunday until 6.30am on Monday and nabbed the car keys.

The thief then made off with the owner's Silver Honda Civic and several other personal belongings.

Inspector Tracy Harkins said: "I am appealing for any resident who may have seen someone acting suspiciously in the area to come forward.

"This type of crime is usually committed by opportunists looking for easy pickings so I would like to remind residents to ensure the security of their home by locking all doors and accessible windows to prevent this kind of theft.

"It is also a good idea to conceal your car/house keys before going to bed for the evening."
