A HOUSTON boy triumphed at a major music festival in 2005.

Ten-year-old Calum Macdonald was the first to scoop a new trophy for his impressive vocal performance at the event in Greenock Town Hall.

Calum, who was a pupil at Houston Primary School, won the Little White Bull Cup after he sang five verses and choruses of The Happy Wanderer.

Judge Douglas Coombes praised the youngster’s performance and awarded him a distinction mark of 88 points in the boys’ vocal solo section.

Proud dad Campbell said at the time: “Calum did very well and he is the first person to have his name engraved on this trophy.

“He absolutely loves singing and wants to be in the theatre when he’s older.

“He has a great singing teacher at school and his mum Sheila helps him out with the piano playing.”
