TWO teenagers are being prosecuted for allegedly carrying out a series of robberies and attempted robberies in Linwood.

The youngsters, who can't be named for legal reasons, denied the charges against them when they appeared in the dock at Paisley Sheriff Court last week.

Prosecutors claim the pair, aged 17 and 16, targeted a 17-year-old, who also can't be named for legal reasons, in Linwood Road on October 5 last year.

It is alleged they repeatedly threatened him with violence and demanded he hand over his property, rained blows on his head and body, leaving him injured, and robbed him of his mobile phone, watch, wallet and its contents.

The same day, they are said to have targeted another boy, aged 16, in the same street.

It is alleged they repeatedly threatened him with violence, rained punches on his head and robbed him of his wallet and contents.

A third boy, 17, is also said to have been robbed by the pair in Linwood Road that day.

They are said to have repeatedly threatened him with violence, demanded his property and rained punches on his head and body, which caused him to fall to the ground.

Court papers allege they also punched and kicked him on the head and body once he was on the ground, leaving him injured, before they made off with his watch and £10 in cash.

And they are said to have tried and failed to rob two others in the same street on the same day.

Prosecutors claim they threatened a 16-year-old and demanded he hand over his property in a botched attempt to rob him and punched another male, whose age is not known, while repeatedly threatening him with violence and demanding property from him in an attempt to rob him.

The older of the two accused also faces two charges of breaking bail conditions by being outwith his bail address during curfew hours on November 9 and November 10.

After hearing that both youngsters were pleading not guilty to the charges against them, Sheriff Seith Ireland scheduled a further pre-trial hearing for next week.
