A QUIET Renfrewshire street was brought to a standstill as armed police and specialist negotiator raced to a siege situation at a block of flats.

A 31-year-old, armed with a weapon, barricaded himself inside a flat on Springbank Road, Paisley, before cops arrived at 11.15pm on Monday evening.

The man was allegedly demanding Brendan Rodgers return to Celtic and for police to give him a 'bag of cans'.

The demands were said to be: "I want a bag of cans, I want Brendan Rodgers back, I want a job."

He is also alleged to have said: "What do you want to do? Somebody come and talk to me.

"F**k up maw, go hame."
