BARRHEAD Fire Station is the latest location to have a public access defibrillator (PAD) installed as part of an ongoing safety drive.

Members of the Levern Valley Defibrillator Community Partnership (LVDCP) are on a mission to ensure all Barrhead communities have access to the lifesaving devices.

The PAD at the fire station is the fourth to be installed in the town as part of the campaign.
Station manager David Fothergill said he is delighted to support the initiative.

He added: “These are potentially lifesaving pieces of equipment, so it is important to have PADs located in as many public places as possible.

“There are many members of the public passing by Barrhead Fire Station and this will only increase with the new adjacent housing development, so the location of this PAD supports the overall safety plan for the town.”

Douglas Yates, chair of LVDCP, said: “I am pleased to have entered into a partnership with the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service whereby they have not just installed a public access defibrillator but have also offered us the use of facilities for training, as well as a loan of a full set of British Heart Foundation training equipment as and when we require it.”
