COPS are on the hunt for three kids who threw a rock through a bus window in Johnstone yesterday.

Passengers were forced to take evasive action after the mindless yobs launched the missile through the McGill's service in the town's Cochranemill Road at around 1.40pm.

Services were delayed as a result and the driver and passengers were left shaken by the incident.

Police say it was 'by luck' that no-one was hurt and have called the incident 'reckless'.

Inspector Jim Cast, based in Johnstone, told The Gazette: "It is by sheer luck that no-one was sitting at the area where the rock came through.

"It could have caused someone a nasty injury and it's a totally mindless and reckless act.

"We are looking to see if members of the public can be vigilant and for parents in that area to be informed and a request made that they ask their children if they know anything about it.

"We are progressing enquiries with CCTV which shows three youths in the vicinity, believed to be local school pupils."

A McGill's spokesperson called the schoolkids 'idiots' and said they will work with police for the fullest justice possible.

He said: “McGill’s work closely with Police Scotland on these attacks and will always press for the fullest justice possible.

"These idiots see a bus and ignore the people from their own community that are travelling inside the bus or are waiting down the road for the bus.

"They think that they are attacking McGill’s, but, in fact, they are attacking their own community.

"This is the epitome of stupidity and is selfish in the extreme to have such an impact upon the most vulnerable of their own community.”

Police are asking the public to contact them on 101 if they have any information, using the reference number KB03110319.
