DENNY’S woes seem to be getting deeper as the American diner reaches over 200 “terrible” reviews on TripAdvisor - just four months after opening in Renfrew, writes Aftab Ali

The chain opened in Braehead in December at the former Toby Carvery site.

Renowned for its breakfasts and brunches, the launch was much anticipated by fans of the US chain that boasts close to 1,600 branches.

However, in the weeks since its long-awaited opening, things did not go down well with with customers.

The Gazette previously reported at the start of this year how the diner was hit with almost 50 “terrible” reviews.

Now, though, that figure has hit 204 with a further 47 reviews branding it poor.

Its overall rating is sitting at 2.5 out of five, ranking it 36th place out of 37 restaurants in the Renfrew area.

One customer who left a “terrible” review on Monday wrote: “It was quite a while before our actual food order was taken. It was even longer before any of our food actually arrived...we had been sitting for the best part of an hour.”

She added: “It would appear that negative reviews simply make no difference whatsoever to this company’s attitude to responding to negative customer reviews. They have had many one star reviews since opening in December, with the same complaints of having to wait absurd times for what can only be described as mediocre, overpriced food. Won’t be back, ever. Appalling.”

Other reviews consistently mention a long wait for tables and for food to arrive, as well as disappointment at the food.

Denny's has been contacted for comment.
