A DAREDEVIL reverend is set to take on a parachute jump for a worthy cause.

Pamela Gordon, who has been a minister at Bourock Parish Church in Barrhead for more than four years, will be skydiving a 10,000ft drop over Auchterarder, in Perth and Kinross, on Saturday, July 13.

And after completing an impressive leap of faith last July when she abseiled more than 163ft from the Forth Bridge, Pamela told the Barrhead News she is looking forward to her next venture.

She said: “I was in a plane a few months ago and when we reached 10,000ft I thought ‘this is really quite high’ because that’s the height that I’m jumping from.

“I think the waiting time, from when we are actually taking off and making our way up to the 10,000ft, will be the worst part because the plane will keep going up.

“When I actually do the skydive – it’ll be terrific.

Barrhead News:

“I’m going up to the air field up in Auchterarder and that is where we will be jumping from.

“Hopefully if the weather allows, the jump will take place.

“Some people in the church think I’m ‘aff ma heed’ as they say but I think they like me for that.”

The 47-year-old is hoping to donate £1,000 to faith-based charity CrossReach, which is part of the Church of Scotland.

It provides care and support to members of the public, of all ages, including specialist dementia care and additional support needs for younger people.

Pamela added: “I’m a Church of Scotland minister and CrossReach is an organisation that works with the Church of Scotland to give social care to members of the public – whether its children of adults – for people of all ages.

“CrossReach give such a great amount of support – whether its drug rehab, or when a loved one is going to visit someone in prison, they try and make it a more friendly environment.”
