A MAN has appeared in court charged with leaving a man scarred for life by battering him with a lamp - then attacking him with a bat and a knife.
Patrick Anderson is said to have set about David McGregor at a flat in William Street, Johnstone.
Prosecutors claim that within his own flat on Monday, April 8, Anderson, 36, attacked Mr McGregor, 34.
The assault charge he faces states Anderson “did repeatedly strike him on the head with objects including a lamp, a bat and a knife” to “his severe injury and permanent disfigurement.”
And it’s claimed he also behaved in a threatening or abusive way on the same occasion, by repeatedly shouting at Mr McGregor and threatening him with violence.
It’s understood Mr McGregor had to be rushed to hospital after allegedly being attacked at around 9pm on the day in question, and received six stitches in a head wound.
Anderson was arrested in connection with the alleged attack and held in police custody before appearing in the dock at Paisley Sheriff Court.
He was represented by defence solicitor Gemma Elder during the behind-closed-doors hearing, where he made no plea to the two charges.
Sheriff Frances McCartney continued the case for prosecutors to investigate further and remanded Anderson in custody.
No future court dates have been set.
