SMOKE grenades were confiscated from teenagers as the Easter holiday celebrations were marred by a spate of youth disorder in East Renfrewshire.
Police also seized a large amount of alcohol from unruly youngsters who had gathered at local parks to soak up the sunny weather.
Rouken Glen Park and Huntly Park, both in Giffnock, were among the ‘hot spots’ for trouble. Six drunken youths had to be taken home by officers on Thursday amid concerns for their welfare.
A police spokesman told the Barrhead News: “We had quite a lot of youth disorder in parks right across East Renfrewshire.
“On Thursday, we had received reports from first thing in the morning about youths drinking in a variety of parks across the area, including Rouken Glen and Huntly Park , and the surrounding streets.
“There was a large quantity of alcohol seized, as well as a number of smoke grenades.
“Also, six youths were taken home due to their state of intoxication.”
Anyone who witnesses anti-social behaviour should call the police on 101.
