A CYCLIST remains in serious condition in hospital following an incident in Renfrewshire.

Police say the 61-year-old man was cycling along the B789 Main Road, in Langbank, on Thursday at around 12.50pm when his bike appeared to lose control and veer off the road.

He was found by members of the public who contacted emergency services and the man was rushed to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital, in Glasgow.

Medics describe his condition as stable but serious and he has been treated for injuries to his head and chest.

The road was closed for several hours to allow police to examine the scene and officers are appealing for anyone with dashcam footage to contact them on 101.
