A JOHNSTONE man is behind bars over claims he left another man scarred for life by battering him with a lamp and then attacking him with a knife.

Patrick Anderson, 36, is said to have set about 34-year-old David McGregor at a flat in the town’s William Street earlier this month.

It is claimed he repeatedly struck Mr McGregor on the head with objects, including a lamp, a bat and a knife, to his severe injury.

Anderson is also alleged to have behaved in a threatening or abusive way on the same occasion by repeatedly shouting at Mr McGregor and threatening him with violence.

He made his second appearance at Paisley Sheriff Court in connection with the case last week.
Anderson was represented by defence solicitor Gemma Elder and made no plea to the charges.

Sheriff Tom Ward fully committed him for trial and remanded him in custody during the private hearing.

No future court dates have been set but Anderson is expected to go on trial later this year.
