A GREAT-GRAN celebrated her 100th birthday in style...by enjoying a game of bingo in Johnstone.

Margaret Muir was joined by friends and family as she made her weekly visit to Globe Bingo, in the town’s High Street, where staff had arranged a surprise party for the centenarian.

Just days earlier, her family jetted in from all across the globe to help her toast the landmark with a party in Paisley.

Margaret’s son, Jim Muir, told The Gazette: “She had a brilliant time and it was so nice to see the effort everyone at the bingo put in.

“Members of the family came over from South Africa to see her.”

Margaret has been living at the Braemount Care Home, in Paisley, for the past year but still enjoys her weekly trip to the bingo.

Joining Jim at the bingo hall for her party were his wife Janet and sister Anne...but lady luck wasn’t with Margaret.

Jim said: “Sadly, her numbers didn’t come up.”

Globe owner Richard Laciok, who was also celebrating the bingo hall’s 55th anniversary, said he was pleased to help give Margaret a day to remember.

He added: “She has been a regular customer for over 20 years and is well liked by the staff. We are delighted to have hosted this special event.”
