TWO people were arrested and four hospitalised following a popular dance event in Renfrewshire, writes Maxine McArthur. 

Four people were taken to hospital due to drink or drug related illnesses, while two people were arrested for drugs and minor disorders. 

The arrests came as 2,500 people attended Ben Nicky & Friends at the intu Braehead Arena, in Renfrew, on May 4.

No further details have been released about the pair, however, a further 12 people were reported for drugs offences.

One was also reported for street drinking.

Despite the incidents, event commander Chief Inspector Hazel Scott declared the event a "success" and thanked the thousands who attended.

She said: "I would like to thank the vast majority of those who attended for conducting themselves in an orderly fashion.
