AN investigation is underway after lawnmowers were stolen from Johnstone Burgh Football Club.

Police have said that, at around 2.30am on Saturday, a metal chain at the club’s Keanie Park ground was cut by thieves.

The crooks then broke a lock on a metal container and took a ride-on mower, worth an estimated £2,000.

This was later recovered in nearby Bluebell Woods.

Three other hand-held Flymo lawnmowers, each worth around £100, were also taken. These have not yet been recovered.

Police have said they are examining CCTV footage from the area in a bid to catch the culprits.

Anyone with information is asked to call officers on 101. Alternatively, ring Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111, where anonymity can be maintained.
