A LOCAL youth group enjoyed an eye-opening visit from local opticians as they tested out their vision.

The junior section of the 1st Elderslie Girls’ Brigade have been undertaking a project on the five senses this year as part of their badge work.

The girls, some of which are as young as eight, welcomed staff from Specsavers who treated them to a night of interactive and fun activities.

These included a mini eye test, blind spot test, colour blind test and optical illusions as store director Gail Thompson and team leader Michelle Forbes, from the Paisley branch, joined the girls for the evening.

Norah Black, officer at 1st Elderslie Girls’ Brigade, said: “It was great to welcome Gail and Michelle along.

“Our badge work theme this year is senses so it was a perfect fit to chat to the girls about general eye health and complete some fun eyesight-related activities.

“A big thank you to Specsavers from all of us at the Junior section.”
Gail Thompson said: “We hope the girls found our visit interesting, educational, and fun.

“We loved meeting everyone and were made to feel very welcome.”

The Girls’ Brigade meets every Thursday night in the Elderslie Kirk Hall from 6.15pm.
