An investigation is underway after copper panels were stolen from a church roof in Linwood.
The theft at St Conval’s Church, in Greenfarm Road, is thought to have taken place at around 2.30am last Thursday.
Police said a priest noticed water coming in from the ceiling over the weekend and later reported the incident, having looked at CCTV footage.
Officers are not ruling out a link to a previous theft of lead from the roof of a doctors’ surgery in Kirk Road, Houston, at the beginning of the month.
Sergeant Barry McNaught, who is based in Johnstone, said: “We are keen to hear from anyone who heard or saw anything near St Conval’s Church or knows where the copper or lead might be.”
