A LUCKY shopper handed charity a boost after winning a fun competition organised by a Johnstone store.

Heather Gardner was thrilled to win the Supermarket Sweep contest organised by Aldi.

She was able to take part in a five-minute trolley dash, which saw her take home piles of her favourite goodies.

And the event also provided a welcome boost for charity, as Aldi matched the total value of Heather’s haul – £256 – and donated the lump sum to her nominated charity, Renfrewshire Foodbank.

Heather, from Kilbarchan, said: “I had a fantastic time taking part in Aldi’s Supermarket Sweep.

“The store staff were cheering me on as I raced around the aisles, filling my trolley with all my favourite goodies.

“I’m so proud to have helped raise so much money for the Renfrewshire Foodbank and my thanks go to Aldi for this great opportunity.”

Alison Brown, of Renfrewshire Foodbank, said every penny raised by Heather will be put to good use.

She added: “Heather did a fantastic job raising over £250, which will go directly towards helping vulnerable families across Renfrewshire.”

Richard Holloway, Aldi’s regional managing director for Scotland, said: “The Aldi Supermarket Sweep is now a firm favourite across the country and, this time, it was the turn of Heather, from Johnstone, to take part.

“During the five-minute sweep at our High Street store, Heather managed to snap up a whole load of Aldi treats for herself and, what’s more, raise an incredible amount for Renfrewshire Foodbank.”
