TRAIN passengers were hit with delays this morning as cows ran onto the track in Renfrewshire. 

Scotrail staff reported the pesky bovine had wandered onto the rail in the Lochwinnoch area at around 8.45am.

As a result, services were disrupted between Ayr and Glasgow Central with trains forced to run at a slower speed than normal and others cancelled. 

Services between Lochwinnoch and Glasgow were not cancelled but some faced delays. 

Staff arrived on site at around 9.25am and had removed the troublesome cows by 10am.

Rail chiefs are expecting delays for the foreseeable future due to the severity of the late running trains.
