A MAN remains in a serious condition in hospital after he was beaten up by a gang of youths in Linwood.

The 21-year-old was punched and kicked to the ground by the thugs after leaving the Clippens Inn bar on Friday night.

The victim was walking along Bridge of Weir Road at around 11pm when he bumped into the group, believed to have been made up of three boys and four girls.

After forcing him onto the ground, the youths continued to rain punches and kicks to his body.

He suffered fractures to his jaw in the shocking attack and remains in the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital, Glasgow, where he is awaiting surgery.

Detective Inspector Bob Bowie, based in Paisley, said: "We are looking for anyone who was in the area at the time of the attack to get in touch."
