DETECTIVES investigating a 'terrifying' robbery in Johnstone have released CCTV images of a man and woman they would like to speak to.

As previously reported by The Gazette, a 46-year-old woman was robbed by a man and woman in Auchengreoch Avenue on Wednesday, February 27. 

Police said at the time the smartly-dressed crooks were carrying clipboards to make it look like they were on official business.

The callous duo managed to talk the woman into letting them into her house but, once inside, they tied her up, gagged her and stole a four-figure sum of cash at around 2.15pm that afternoon.

They then fled the scene, running off in the direction of Beith Road.

The victim did not need medical treatment but has been left badly shaken.

Detective Constable Kate Wason said: "We would appeal to anyone who recognises the man and woman in the images to please get in touch as it is vital that we speak to them."
