A DESPERATE search for missing poultry has begun after chickens and ducks went missing from a community farm.

Two white ducks, two green Muscovy ducks and five chickens were reportedly let out at Lamont Farm in Erskine in the early hours of this morning, with the chickens only having arrived on site yesterday.

The farm has remained closed today while efforts are made to find the animals.

Staff say an attempt was also made to get to reptiles in a log cabin, but thieves failed to get in. Shovels, forks and wheelbarrows have also been taken.

Several search parties are now at work across the town in a bid to find the missing birds, with staff extremely concerned for their safety.

Yvonne Elliot, manager, said: "We are asking people to please be vigilant and look everywhere. If you see anything, please get in touch with us immediately."

Police have been informed and have been on site this morning.

If anyone thinks they have seen the birds, call 0141 812 5335 or police on 101.
