AN investigation has been launched after a pensioner was found dead in her home.

The 83-year-old woman was discovered at around 9.55am yesterday, prompting officers to cordon off the house in the quiet cul-de-sac in MacDuff.

Forensic officers searched the property but cops are currently treating the death as unexplained.

A post-mortem examination will be carried out in due course to establish the exact cause of her death.

A police spokesperson said: “A post mortem examination will take place in due course to establish the exact cause of death and police are treating the death as unexplained meantime.

“A report will be sent to the Procurator Fiscal.”
