ROADWORKS which were due to take place on the A737 next weekend have been postponed.

Works had been planned for the resurfacing of 1.2km of the trunk road between Roadhead Roundabout, in Lochwinnoch, and Clerksbridge Toll Roundabout, north of Beith, starting at 8pm on Friday, July 26, until 6am on Monday, July 29.

But due to council roadworks being planned on the diversion route, the works have had to be put off.

The £260,000 project is part of a programme of resurfacing works planned for the A737 this year.

A spokesman said: "It would have been necessary to carry out these works under a full closure of the trunk road in this area. This will obviously no longer be required by Scotland TranServ."
